The HK Prize – Our Changing World

hk prize is one of the largest science and technology innovation awards in Asia. Thousands of scientists from around the world compete for this prize every year. Winners will receive a substantial monetary award, as well as access to some of Hong Kong’s premier research facilities. They will also have the opportunity to interact with other renowned scientists in the city. This will give them the chance to broaden their perspective and enhance their career.

The prize aims to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions towards world civilisation and society harmony, and to inspire others to achieve a peaceful and harmonious world. Previous winners have included selfless volunteers and good Samaritans, as well as professors whose work has had significant ramifications for business, finance, engineering and other fields.

This year’s HK Prize theme, ‘Our Changing World’, invites artists to delve into global evolution from a variety of perspectives. The diverse submissions explore how our society is changing socially, culturally, technologically, and environmentally. Through their art, the shortlisted candidates reflect upon the significance of our shared humanity and highlight issues such as international displacement, climate change, and labour migration.

The prize was founded by a donation from the late Professor Wang Gungwu. It is designed to recognise excellence in research conducted by young Fellows of the Academy. This includes clinical studies, observational and epidemiological studies (review articles and letters to the editor are not eligible), and any other relevant research in medical sciences. This research can be at any stage of its development, and the final decision will be based on a thorough evaluation of the paper by the Prize Selection Committee.
