A pool is a great place to gather with friends and family for barbeques, drinks or just to relax in the sun. Having a pool can also enhance the outdoor living that is so important to Sydney’s lifestyle, and will add value to your home.
In addition to the general construction of the sidney pools, WTI was responsible for the feasibility study, site evaluation and selection, preliminary design, and cost estimates for this one-of-a-kind facility. Through extensive programming and user input, the WTI team was able to create a one-of-a-kind swimming pool designed specifically for the needs of the residents of the City of Sydney.
The City of Sydney wanted to build a state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable pool that would be the centerpiece of the city’s public recreation program. The new aquatic center needed to be a gathering place for families, youth groups and citizens of all ages. The design team worked with the Mayor’s Committee to meet regularly with the community to listen and learn their wants and needs, which resulted in a one-of-a-kind facility for Sydney.
WTI’s design approach was based on the community’s desire for a natural looking pool that was environmentally responsible and easy to maintain. The result was a pool that is both beautiful and functional, and has become a popular spot for the community to come together and enjoy its beauty and recreational benefits.
To ensure a high level of sustainability, the pool’s glass surface was chosen to minimize energy consumption and light reflection. This innovative and durable material has been proven to be a great choice for swimming pools. Its superior light transmission, low emissivity coefficient and low thermal mass allow it to keep water temperatures stable in changing weather conditions. The result is a comfortable swimming experience and lower operating costs.
While the initial cost of a fiberglass pool may be higher than a liner-built pool, it can often be off-set within the first ten years, and will save thousands over the life of the pool. Additionally, a liner is more flexible than a fiberglass pool, and is less likely to crack or chip, allowing for an easier repair process.
The City of Sydney’s first green pool has been a tremendous success, and serves as a model for future swimming pools. The pool is a wonderful addition to the city’s recreational amenities, and will be enjoyed by generations to come. With the increasing population of the city and limited space for new parks, the green pool has been a valuable asset in providing a safe and fun environment for its residents. The City hopes to replicate the green pool in the future and provide the residents of Sydney with additional recreational opportunities. The pool is open year round and offers a variety of programs for the whole family to enjoy. In addition, the City’s swimming pools are used as a testing ground for innovations in swimming equipment and techniques. This includes the development of the patented “Water Ballet” exercise, which combines dance steps with underwater diving.
